Veggie garden!

I am definitely not what you would call a ‘plant person’. I’ve avoided houseplants for most of my life, and I’ve never had much interest in taking care of anything but a couple herb plants.

But a few weeks ago, all of this changed suddenly. On a whim, I bought up a bunch of dirt, pots, seedlings and seeds, and decided to turn my little balcony into a vegetable garden. And suddenly I am the most enthusiastic (albeit clueless) gardener you’ve ever seen. Multiple times a day I go out to check on the plants’ progress. Despite my lack of experience, everything seems to be growing quite nicely. I think we’re just days away from our first harvests…

At this point, I can’t recommend vegetable gardening enough! Do you grow any food?

Good to see you sticking around for a bit!
I love veggie and herb gardening, I’ve just finished a 3 month stint away from home but now I’m back I’ll be getting stuck right into some planting. Thanks for the reminder! :)

I love growing my own veggies. There is nothing like going out on a whim and grabbing some vegetables and some herbs from your garden and whipping up a salad or popping them on the grill right from the garden.

We have a huge patio garden this year. Last year we had two tomato plants to start. Now we have eight tomatoes, eight, peppers, squash, cabbage, eggplant, green beans, cucumbers and we are even trying watermelons. I have no idea how they will do but we are just so excited about gardening. Like you we went a little crazy at the greenhouse and bought more than we intended but everything is growing very nicely! Happy you are back for a little longer, Jul!

Jodie – get planting! Luckily you have plenty of time left in the growing season. :)

Vinnie – I can’t wait to be able to make a salad from my garden. As you say, I bet it’s fabulous!

Diana – what great variety! And I’m glad to hear I’m not the only over-enthusiastic gardener out there. :)

If that photo is from your garden – you are doing well! Congratulations – I bet it smells and tastes good!

TopVeg, it is indeed my garden. I’m very proud of my little peppers. :) But the tomato plants smell the best.

I have always had good luck with house plants, but this year I did the same thing! I had to have a garden. In our urban setting, this ment pots and troughs filled with dirt and seedlings from a garden store. I recently wrote a post on it too. Your veggies look awesome! I am also clueless but have found lots of helpful info on…http://www.yougrowgirl.com/

Thanks for the link, Adele. Looks like a cool site! Best of luck with your urban garden, too. :)
