Vintage Christmas Ornament Guide – 1950’s Paper Angel

This little two and a half inch high paper angel ornament is very fragile. I photographed it a few times on the tree, but it kept getting a glare. Thankfully, I have my trusty light tent and was able to take a photo that’s a bit better. Shimmery things just don’t photograph well!

The angel is stamped “Made in Japan” on the inside of its dress. I think they originally came as a set of 12, but there are only three surviving in this set. They have chenille pipe cleaner arms and very brittle cardboard wings. I’m pretty sure the set is from the 50’s. My mom remembers seeing them on the tree when she was young.

If you know anything more about these tiny ornaments, let me know.
