I have always believed that an external factor - be it an insect bite, an infection, a virus or stress - triggers a sequence of events that will ultimately lead to the development of cancer or an auto-immune disease. I'm wondering if some skin cancers may be triggered in some individuals by something like a mosquito bite? Some people who have had skin cancer, including Laura Bush, have said that they at first thought the sore was an insect bite. Perhaps it really was to begin with.
