Vitamins bad for you?
According to a recent BBC article, researchers have recently found that “taking certain vitamin supplements may adversely affect people’s lifespan”. The study’s results have proven controversial, to say the least.
“Looking at dozens of previous studies, Copenhagen University researchers suggested these appeared to raise, not lower, the risk of early death.
A supplements industry expert said the Journal of the American Medical Association study was fatally flawed.
But nutritionists said it reinforced the need to eat a balanced diet, rather than relying on supplements.
While vitamin supplements have been popular for decades, the precise benefits they offer – if any – remain uncertain, despite hundreds of research projects.”

Do you take daily vitamin supplements? Which ones?

Interesting story… I think I’ll just carry on with my healthy, diverse vegetarian diet
I sometimes take spirulina tablets and a ACE/Selenium complement as my skin has always needed a bit of help. But I do not rely on these tablets to provide me with essential nutrients, I know all too well that these nutrients are much more effective and in pure form when originating from food. Pills just cannot replace food.
The article makes me think there are people out there who think ‘well, I took my vitamin today, so that means I can eat food with no nutritional value whatsoever all day long!’ Not exactly a good attitude to have…
I actually take a multivitamin every day, figuring it couldn’t hurt. But I also try to squeeze in a whole lot of healthy, whole foods each day, too.
