Vocal Bid to End Mental Illness Social Stigma

January 9, 2009 by gayla

Mental health service users in Warwickshire, UK have joined forces and will share their personal mental health stories. Talkbank has been set up by South Warwickshire User Forum for Mental Health to create a network of people from in and around the county as part of its awareness, media and information project.

The talkbank of people willing to share their stories with the media is intended to help dispel myths and send positive messages of recovery.

The project will support the national anti-stigma campaign Time to Change, which launches this month. For more information visit www.stopstigma.org.uk

Do you have a story you’d like to share? Many of us may not be in the UK – but we can show our support for the cause.

Perhaps someone in the blogosphere will organize a bit of a carnival in which bloggers could share and link to our own stories. Perhaps something like that already exists that I’m just not aware of?
