Voluntary sterilization of poor women proposed by Louisiana legislator

How do you feel about paying women on welfare to be sterilized? According to a Louisiana representative, this is a way to break the "generational welfare" cycle.

John LaBruzzo proposes giving 1,000 dollars to women on welfare if they get a tubal ligation, thus preventing pregnancy. He is also thinking of some sort of reward for men and vasectomies.

Well, he definitely has his name in the news now, doesn’t he?

I think that this is a great idea. It will help STOP the ongoing cycle of welfare kids raising welfare kids raising welfare kids! To any of you who do not live in Louisiana. Come down here and live here for 6 months to a year and let me know if your mind has changed. Its a neverending cycle here and something has got to change. For the rest of us who work, pay our taxes and pay our health insurance- its not fare to us to spend our well earned money on people who EXPECT FREE MONEY that keep having kid after kid!

Think about that for a while!
