Vote for the Next Food Network Star

Food Network Star…Amy

The finalists were chosen last night after a dramatic turn of events when Jag was forced to resign.

It is down to Amy and Rory.  I really want Amy to win.  I agree with Bobby Flay, that Rory’s food is inconsistent as far as execution and I personally think all her recipes are the same.  If they didn’t provide they ingredient choice, Rory kept with grilling steaks and the conventional sides…yawn!  Amy on the other hand knows a lot more about food, has better culinary chops and has made a wide variety of food throughout the competition.

The judges have had their criticisms of Amy.  One was that she was not doing well on camera.  Well, she fixed that and has been doing great.  She finally came out of her shell.  The second complaint of theirs is that she is too…I am not quite sure how they have been putting it, but basically that her approach to food is snobby because she uses French words.

You have got to be kidding me???  That would be like a French person saying you have no class because you speak English….ok…well they probably would say that, but that’s the point.  Just because you give things a French name doesn’t make it unrelatable.

First of all, there are plenty of those fancy smancy terms being flung around at the Food Network.  Take a look at Giada with her Italian phrasing and pronunciation.  I guess Italian verb-age is more palatable for the masses.

Secondly, I take offense that I as a viewer am that inane.  And finally, Amy’s culinary point of view is to make French cooking accessible to the masses.  Yes, she called it Eggs en Cocotee with a Basque Piperade, but she also told viewers that just meant “eggs cooked in a ramekin”.  I do not understand these judges.  I as a home cook would love to have friends over and tell them I made them Eggs en Cocotee instead of “eggs and beans”, it is easy, good and I sound like I know what I am doing.

Well, I say VOTE AMY!!!!!!

But, whatever you do, cast your vote.  Voting continues through Tuesday, July 17th at 9am EST.  You can vote twice a day on-line and by text message.

Don’t miss the Grand Finale next Sunday and see who will be The Next Food Network Star.

I agree! Why do the judges feel that we “home cooks” would scratch our little heads and tune out if we heard a French term? Julia Child must be spinning in her grave if HeavenTV picks up NFNS.

  2. gorlat says:

As a home cook I know the French terms. I’m just not impressed with those who think they are superior by using them.

    Amy’s a snob!

  3. Gary says:

I just don’t understand the love affair the judges had with JAG. It seemed to me that his presentations were always confusing and vague. Oh well, he did get what he deserved. And Amy, who is the best cook, does get another chance. Best of luck Amy.

  4. Lester Hunt says:

I think the problem they had with Amy’s French is not the it is foreign, but that it tends to be unhelpful and to make things sound more complicated than they are. Legitimate gripes, I should think.

  5. Lester Hunt says:

Oops. Read “that it is” for “the it is,” of course.

  6. Rae Marie says:

I’m glad JAG’s out of the picture too. I would have preferred if he was eliminated after the Iron Chef challenge instead of Paul.

Amy’s my pick now, though I wouldn’t totally mind if Rory won either. They both have interesting culinary points of view, and both have improved significantly since the beginning of the show.

  7. Koraley says:

I want Amy to win!!! I love French food and can’t wait to see what she will make on her show! I also like that her food is more on the healthy side than Rory’s.

  8. Wally says:

I really hope Amy wins. I cannot stand Rory for many reasons, the least of which is her horse face and gums. She was rude to Alton Brown, dissed the network when she was specificaly told not to in a radio interview and doesn’t take responsibility for her actions. She an even less attractive version of Rachael Ray.

  9. Jenn says:

Hey did you guys hear about this? I just read that Amy chose the Next Food Network Star over her family and her husband.
That her husband and kids begged her not to do it but she said screw you and did it anyway. She then Filed for divorce. Thats not cool, to take fame over family.
    Shame on you Amy

Amy, Amy, Amy go Amy. Rory is nothing but big teeth and I hate her personality fake fake fake. I will not watch Foodnetwork again if Rory wins. I would have loved Paul and Amy to go head to head I wish you the best of luck Paul, you were great.

Rory how nice of you to show up.

  17. Carolyn says:

Amy did not give up her family for Foodnetwork it’s a bad rumor so people who like her might not vote.

  18. re: Food Network next Star – I vote for Melissa – Debbie is not very truthful.

  19. MELBA GRAY says:

I DO NOT WANT TO SEE THE HOME-MAKER AS SHE SO CALLS HERSELF WIN THE FOODNETWORK
STAR CONTEST. SHE DOES NOT HAVE THE PERSONALITY, AND SHE THINKS SHE IS SO GREAT.
MY COMMENTS MAY NOT MEAN ANYTHING BUT I HOPE A MILLION OTHERS FEEL THE SAME.
SHE THINKS SHE IS THE BEST THING TO HIT TV. PLEASE EVERY ON VOTE NO.
