VW Beetle Inspired Home

A while back, my pal Deb sent me a cool slideshow of random funky architecture. I’d seen most of the structures before, but among them was one neat house I’ve never seen (yay!). Take a look:

car house

Somehow I don’t think my son, my records, and I would all fit in there. Still, this is pretty neat-o. This residential car-house in Austria is just 300 sq meters, but cost (get this) 1 million euros. In case you can’t tell, this little home was inspired by the VW Beetle, and has some eco-features too. It’s really hard to imagine how this looks on the inside. I have to hunt around for some interior images.

The entire World’s Wildest Architecture slideshow is worth seeing. They have a couple structures that I don’t think qualify as “wild” like the Guggenheim Museum – (still cool though). Overall though, it’s a great offbeat show with structures like Casa Batllo, the good old Haines Shoe House, Longaberger, and more.

Wow. So, it has an address and receives mail. Hard to imagine someone living there, but it is very cute.

i think what im most surprised about with buildigns like this is that they are actually built…

  3. Great find! I love the beetle and think its design is timeless.
