What is your waist size?  If you are a man and your waist size is above 40 inches or if  you are a woman and your waist size is 35 inches or more, then you run the highest risk of getting diabetes.  Abnormal waist size also can result in heart disease.  These are the observations of the survey "Shape the Nations" commissioned by pharmaceuticals company Sanofi-Aventis and backed by the World Heart Federation in Wales.  People are aware of the perils of being overweight but not the effects of waist size is yet to be understood fully.  A worrying finding is that a lot of doctors themselves are ignorant of the link between waist size and type 2 diabetes.
