Warming Trends

It’s supposed to be in the high 60s and into the 70s all this week and sunny. This means yet another transition for Charlie: He’s been donning his blue fleece vest, blue fleece coat, and blue fleece gloves routinely for the past several months. Last Saturday in New York he kept moaning in 60-plus degree weather and that fleece get-up, and looked surprised then was smiling when he removed his fleece items (his armor, I guess you could say). I do think Charlie been grateful for the big hood on the coat to screen out sounds (which he has been much more sensitive too of late) but summer is coming, and the sensory delights of the salty ocean, foamy waves, and sand (wet and dry).

I think we’ll be able to make an exchange of fleece for the beach. Eventually.

We are having difficulties with it staying lighter longer. M insists it can’t be time for bath or bedtime routine because it is still light out. Argh. She has refused to bathe for three days now and I am not liking that at all. Nothing new though I guess.

I was looking forward to this warm weather. I have a beautiful fenced in backyard with a huge trampoline. My oldest son loves the outdoors and it is wonderful to get some fresh air. Unfortunately, my kids have picked up the habit of turning on the hose (in which it is not fastened properly to the fawcet and water is spouting everywhere). They also enjoy throwing furniture over the fence and stripping naked while on the trampoline. To add to this mess, our so-called indoor family cat escapes into the backyard and was stuck up in a tree (twice – in just one weekend). I have to turn off the water valve in the house which makes it impossible to do laundry. What a mess.

  3. And where there’s water there’s……mud?

Charlie has similar trouble going to sleep when it is still light—he needs it to be pitch dark before the bedtime process begins. Hope she gets into the bath tonight….

Marla: I remember being incensed at being put to bed when it was still light out as a youngster — it really didn’t seem to make any sense!

  5. Jill says:

Oh Yes! Lots of mud. I bought a couple of bags of mulch yesterday and I am going to get some more today. I also need to plant some more grass seed.

It takes matty a while to get adjusted too. For the first few weeks, I will put shorts on him and he will go in his room and throw sweats over his shorts. To go from pants to shorts isn’t an issue though.
