Watchful waiting

January 19, 2008 by Marijke Durning, RN

Watchful waiting is a term used in healthcare when they acknowledge that there is an issue that may have to be treated, but there is a chance that the issue will not progress any further or may clear up on its own. By recommending watchful waiting, the physicians will keep an eye on the progress, stepping in for treatment if it becomes necessary.
