Thank you to everyone who entered my Fine Art Photo Giveaway. I enjoyed reading your stories about holiday shopping.
Our winner is Courtney!
I will be holding more giveways at a later date. This one was a lot of fun.
My family and I enjoyed a very lazy day together. My mom came by this evening for some Thanksgiving leftovers. We all decided that this years stuffing was the best ever. I added a healthy cup of mushrooms to my usual recipe. Oh boy, very good. I don’t know why I only make stuffing during the holidays. It’s simple and satisfying and would be a compliment to non-holiday meals, as well.
Mom and Sarah made the yams and they came in a close second - full of sweet potato-y goodness, brown sugar, and pineapple. Sarah had a hand in every dish we made yesterday. She’s a great help in the kitchen and I think it’s important for kids to learn about preparing special meals. Cooking is more than just mixing different ingredients together. Preparing a holiday meal is also about tradition and family.
Do you have any good ideas for taking leftovers and making something new? I’d love to read your ideas if you do. I usually do something with the leftover mashed potatoes. Tomorrow morning, we are going to have potato pancakes for breakfast.
Well, it’s back to the family. The kids want to watch Sixteen Candles together in my room, but before I go, here’s a photo of Sarah and I, after we finished our 5K yesterday. We are very, very pink-cheeked.
