We have butter, and we have nuts…

IMG 4784I just came across this odd butternut squash photo I took a couple weeks ago (I think the poor quality of the photo is why I never actually blogged about it then, even though the squash curry I made out of it was delicious!). Anyway, it reminded me of something I saw on a TV show as a child. I think it was Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood (in the make believe world), but I’m not sure. It was a scene in a restaurant, or something like that, and it took place between two puppets. It went something like this:

Puppet #1: Excuse me, miss, do you have any butternut squash?

Puppet #2: Just a minute, sir. I’ll go check.

(Puppet #2 goes away and comes back.)

Puppet #2 (holding up a container of butter and a container of nuts): I’m sorry, sir. We have butter, and we have nuts, but we don’t seem to have any butternut squash.

Does anyone else remember this? Just curious. :)

I don’t remember the show but then I am in the UK. It is quite cute though!

I wonder why they are called butternut squash?

  2. Hmmm…for some reason I’m remembering Sesame Street. Could that have been it?

Sophie - good question! I might just have to do a little research and try to find out.

Grace - that’s entirely possible. I was a fan of both shows back then. :)

  4. Ha! What a giggle. It seems like we are both putting Monday morning laughs on our sites (I guess I’m not the only one needing it!).

    Cheers.
