Weary Parent Group Writing Project and ContestSo, I was the lucky winner of the $24.95 cash prize in Kate’s Babylune group writing project/contest last week. How cool was that? I have decided to keep the fun going and instead of buying something I don’t really need with that $24.95, Weary Parent is going to have a contest of its own! I shared this idea with Kate and guess what? She had won that same $24.95 in a previous contest, too. I think its a sign. We need to keep this prize money moving through cyberspace.

Contest Theme

We were all tweens/teens at some point in the past and even though our parents were convinced that we heard NOTHING of the good advice they gave us, we really did listen - at least a little bit. I want to know what advice your parents or another influential adult gave you as a teen that you took to heart. It can be funny. It can be serious. It can be a list, a story, a confession - be creative! Just keep it tasteful - this is a family-oriented site. (I reserve the right to not post entries that are inappropriate)

Contest Rules/Details

In order to participate, make your post anytime between now and 11:59 p.m. Thursday, June 21, 2007. Include an small intro to your post with a link to this post and to be sure I don’t miss anyone, don’t forget to leave a comment, too. I will post entries in batches for the day and will post the final list on Friday. Once all the final entries are posted, I will have one of my tweens draw a random entry out of a hat.

The winning entry will win a $24.95 Amazon gift certificate or $24.95 in cash via PayPal. Why $24.95? That is the magic number that allows us to reward you with out you incurring any tax penalties. The prize is yours to do with as you please.

  6. Hey Char.

I just happened to have written a post about some great advice my grandfather gave me as an 8 year-old. While I was not yet a teen, it certainly was great advice and it made an amazing impression on my life. Want to find out what the advice was?

I just put up my post. I was only 10 at the time, but that counts as a tween, doesn´t it?
