Welcome to McEldercare, may I take your mother, please?

eldercare.gifWhile I know that many services that help care for the aging population are valuable, especially to those of us in the Sandwich Generation, something about associating elder care with franchising sits wrong with me.

I know there’s nothing wrong with it being a business, I have used them myself. I think it’s just the term “franchising” that bugs me. It just makes me feel like there’s people out there trying to decide, “Hmm…do I want to start a Dairy Queen or a Home Health Agency?”

Just my deep thoughts for today.

    Sadly, I agree with you.

Even more sadly, I think some of them would have been better off opening the Dairy Queen. (Or at least the clients/patients would have been).

Although, I am not sure what is worse, “the franchise” or “the conglomerate” which puts the franchises out of business to boost their profits then cut essential services.

We were fortunate enough to find a quality franchise to help us build a home for our daughter, who suffered from a cancerous brain tumor. Had we tried to go through the bureaucracy on our own without the help of the franchise, we would have failed financially. Although our daughter passed away after a few years, we learned from building a better care facility than existed in 60 miles.
