What Are You Putting In Your Body?

I stumbled across this video just now while I was looking for something else. I’m shocked, and yet not surprised. But most of all, I’m feeling kind of sick. First, watch the video, then I’ll finish with my reaction.
Okay, first of all, if there is anyone out there who hasn’t eaten fast food at least once in your life, then kudos to you. But chances are, the majority of us living today have eaten it at some point.
Now, putting ourselves aside for just a minute. How many of us take our kids to fast food joints? Better yet, how many of us feed our kids fast food more than twice a week?
My stomach is seriously churning after watching this video. My kids love McDonald’s. And while I don’t love the idea of them eating fast food, I’ve always lived by the rule that letting them have it every now and then won’t hurt them.
I’m really re-thinking this.
What do you think? Did this video shock you? Does it make any difference in how you think/feel about fast food? What’s your reaction?

Whoa. That’s just NASTY! We rarely eat fast food, but we DO eat it. Hmmm…
I know….it’s really gross.
Sadly, it doesn’t surprise me. (Actually I think I’m a little more surprised that that lady has held on to these things for so long!) But it does make me feel good that I don’t eat fast food.
I’m not surprised either. If you were the president of McDonald’s, wouldn’t you want to cut down on losses due to food spoilage too? Your average consumer doesn’t care about preservatives so much, after all. Even if it does goodness knows what to your body.
However, it’s quite a leap to then pin preservatives on our obesity problem because they “don’t break down.” You mean it doesn’t have anything to do with calories? Seriously, now? I’ve seen lots of people lose weight eating fast food, and I’ve seen lots of people lose weight that they accumulated by eating fast food…AND, I’ve seen people get fat eating healthy, too! It’s all about calories in vs. calories out, and turning this whole issue with preservatives into a weight loss scheme smells fishy to me. The rest of her points are valid, but that last one irked me a little.
This is just one reason why I haven’t eaten at McDonalds in over 15 years.
