What Can You Do With Old Ties?

One of the pieces of clothing that men always have is the necktie. However, almost everyone gives you a tie so much so that you end up having tons of ties in your closet that you don’t know what else to do with the most of them but throw them away. And while going through the Internet on where can I send off my ties so that they’ll be at least more useful, I came across TieWarehouse and it has tons of pretty cool ideas on what you can do with that old and unwanted tie. I think you better read on:

  1. Do a Rambo: Wrap a tie around your forehead, grab a toy gun and some grenades, and scuttle round your office on your knees.
  2. Protect your knees and elbows on the half pipe: Another one for the executive having a mid-life crisis – wrap old ties around your knees and elbows while using your son’s skateboard.
  3. Emergency present wrapping: An old tie will make a great ribbon on a present. Not recommended for anyone you don’t want to offend.
  4. Have a retro day: Take all your old ties to work and wear the worst.
  5. Make a costume for the kids: Yay, it’s dress up like dad day.
  6. Keep one in the car: Probably no good as a tow rope or emergency fan belt, but great for scrubbing dried flies off your windscreen.
  7. Lasso cattle: Tie a few ties together and hope the knots will withstand the strength of one ton of beef.
  8. Make a comfort blanket: Your old ties kept you safe at work decades ago, so why not take them apart and turn them into a comfort blanket for home.
  9. Dye a new tie: Might take some experimenting, but can you turn an old tie into a new favourite?
  10. Dress up your dog: Think how cute Fido will look with your old tie on.

Any other cool ideas, eh?

you can make really cool quilts with them as well…and I really like the idea of using them to wrap gifts!

I’ve seen skirts made from old ties. The ends make nice points for a hem.

  4. Jayne Cecchini says:

Craft project: sew up small end, Stuff with bird seed, split peas, or the like (to make it pliable) then make a snake tongue out of felt or foam, sew on button eyes, stitch up the triangle with the tongue hanging out, and you have a fun looking snake for kids or draft dodger.
