What helps you relax? How about 50.00 from Amazon.com?

What helps relax you when you have pain? Do you like to read a book that takes you away from it all? Do you like to read about ways to manage your pain or about people who have overcome diversity? Or do you prefer to listen to audio books, or good music? Some people like to watch movies or comedy routines on DVD.

Whatever your mode of relaxation is – I’ve got something for you. How about a 50.00 gift certificate for Amazon.com? Then you could get whatever you want to help you ease or manage your pain.

So, here’s the deal. Since it’s a nice prize,  you need to work a little bit for it. There are three ways you can enter:

One: tell me in the comment section about the last book you read and what you liked or didn’t like about it.

Two: Tell me in the comment section about another post on this site and what you got out of it.

Three: Visit my other blog Womb Within (about pregnancy) and tell me in the comment section here which post or posts you read and what you got out of it (them). The good thing about this approach, is it gives you *2* entries. :-)

Ok, now the rules:

  1. To be eligible to win, you must follow one of those three conditions. Leaving a message like ‘give me the prize’ or ‘awesome’ contest doesn’t cut it. This prize will run from today, August 15th, 2008 until 11:59 PM on August 30th (EST).
  2. You must put a valid email address in the text box (under your name) to be contacted for the prize if you are the winner. No-one else sees the email address so you won’t get spammed. You must live in North America because the certificate is for Amazon.com (sorry, rest of the world. I usually include everyone).
  3. You must make sure that my email address (marijke (dot) durning (at) b5media (dot) com) is not dumping directly into your junk folder. I have several prizes from here and Womb Within that are unclaimed because I am not getting responses from my emails and people are not coming back to check if they won.

That’s it. Good luck!

It was all about friendship and making a difference in your life. To me it was about not settling for every day things and doing something to make your life more fulfilling. It really was a good book. Thank you!

Charlie Sheen and wife are expecting their first baby. Diane Harmon is expecting her 3rd.
The last book I read was Daniel X by James Patterson..awesome book, love all the twists and turns. I do deep breathing and focusing to try and get thru the sharp pain,(I have pain everyday..its just to what degree I can use to get thru it, I don’t believe in painpills). Thanks so much for the giveaway.

  10. Chris says:

I usually have four or five books going at a time so I’ll just have to pick one – “Yoga for Arthritis” by Loren Fishman and Ellen Saltonstall. A good, detailed look at various postures and how they work or don’t work for different parts of the body when you have arthritis issues. I have always worried before about what to do or not to avoid doing more damage to my joints and now I feel much better informed.

what helps me relax is a nice long foot massage
and a few pops of Beefeater’s on the rocks…
not necessarily in that order !

  18. Becky says:

I read all the time and almost anything I can get a hold of. Right now I’m read “Welcome to the World Baby Girl” by Fannie Flagg (she wrote the book the movie Fried Green Tomatoes was based on) but I usually will pick up just about any ol’ book

i read sylvia browns life on the other side i like the thought that there might be something after this world especially after losing my son justin in 1988 and my daughter ashley in 2004 it gives me hope that they are ok and in a better place. what i dont like is that i cant have contact with them like sylvia seems to do which makes me wonder is its all a scam because i do want it so badly and it seems if they knew how bad i missed them they would give me some kind of sign :(

  22. Tamara Bennington says:

I hate to say but it has been a long time since I made the time for myself to read a book. I read alot of magazines though. Love reading the gossip in the Star magazines the pictures always make me laugh. Having a fractured hip from results from a bad surgery two years ago the pain was unbearable. I found that laying flat on the bed and just meditating with breathing slowly helped alot. I read the Australia’s Kitchen Garden Project on your website and what an amazing project for children to get involved it. They grew their own garden and cooked what they grew. What an interesting concept to get the children to eat more healthier. Great article.!

  23. Alyn S says:

Great Contest. Thanks! I like to relax by being totally alone in a quiet house! Nothing quite like it to gather your thoughts!

The best way for me to relax when in pain is to soak in a nice warm bubble bath by candle light. I close my eyes and breathe deeply and can almost immediately get some relief. My mother has done this for years and convinced me to try it and it works well for me.

  28. Ed Nemmers says:

Mary Karr’s “The Liar’s Club”, a rollicking memoir of crazy times in 1960s Texas; fun southern dialogue!

  29. Rozie H. says:

The last book I read was Jeffrey Archer’s “The Prodigal Daughter” and I loved it because it shows just how far a woman may go in life if she believes in herself.

  30. Rozie H. says:

I was saddened to read of the closing of the midwifery program at Miami Dade. I always hate to hear of the closure of educational programs. It makes it much harder for those who want to get an education when they have to travel farther from home to do so.

  31. Cynthia Boris says:

I’m finishing up Mercedes Coffin by Faye Kellerman, I love all of her Rina and Decker mystery novels – the connection between faith and home and the drama of the stories is always a winner.

  32. Sarah Lehan says:

The last book I read was “Goodnight Bush”, a parody of “Goodnight Moon”. It makes you laugh and cry at the same time. The authors were here in Denver this week for the DNC. Thanks for the contest – I know what I want to get at Amazon.

  33. Sue says:

Taking a long hot bubble bath.

  34. Deb K says:

I like soaking in a warm bath with some lit candles at the end of a stressful day.

I love to read the pain away. I like autobiography’s. Currently I am readying Tori Spelling’s Stori Telling. So far, so good!

  36. The last book I read was “Stick to Drawing Comics, Monkey Brain!” by Scott Adams, the guy who draws Dilbert comics. I love his style of humor, his usage of Dilbert comic strips to illustrate his points and I hope to someday be a writer/cartoonist like him!

  37. david says:

I like to read a book or magazine.

  38. Sharon W says:

The last book I read was The Ruins by Scott Smith and I enjoyed it and even had to go see the movie which did not compare to the book.

  39. Samantha Pruitt says:

the last book i read was for my gender studies class, it’s called Y:the Last Man. It’s about one day all the men in the world (along with anything that has a Y chromosome) die except for one guy and his monkey, so he tries to make his way to washington in order for them to figure out why and to see if they can make some more men. But all these women, called Amazonians, are trying to stop him cuz they think that the world is a better place without men, there’s a lot more to the story, but it’s kind of complicated.

It’s a graphic novel comic book type thing that they’re going to be turning into a movie soon, so i’m so excited for that! i’ve only read the first book, so i have to read the rest (when i have time, grrr) it really sucks you in, everyone should read it, it’s a light and fun read with pretty pictures, hahaha.
