What kind of man do you want? | Dating Dames, Dating Blog

Hee hee. Just wanted to make you guys laugh a bit.

But dog or not, it’s a great thing to think about, yeah? What kind of man do you want? Were the traits the woman in the comic enumerated even such a tall order in the first place?

It’d be good to know your thoughts!

Lets see… I’ll take plain old “normal” and throw in a dose of “non-violence” which shouldn’t be that much to ask but it seemingly is.

If I get more choices I’ll go with: eco-savvy, chill, cute, smart, likes to read (my ex was a non-reader and it was soooooo frustrating), funny, likes kids, no dog, likes to travel, likes my music, and someone who considers my work actual work as opposed to all the people I meet who seem to think I eat bon bons all day. There.

Man, I am going to be single forever. Oh yeah and they have to like the rain. No way am I moving back to the desert.

haha… it sounds to me like you’re looking for a ‘nice guy’.

From what i’ve experienced though (in the short time i’ve had) nice guys do tend to finish up last – which leaves us not only confused, but heartbroken.

The things the woman wants in the comic (in my opinion anyway) aren’t such a tall order at all – in fact, without these, i find it hard for any relationship to last.

Anyways, that’s just my 2 cents worth from a Hopeless romantic :)

Believe it or not, I know someone who fits the exact traits of those mentioned in the comic strip, and he is wooing a friend right now. The thing is, my friend is worried that she is too “bad” for him. So there’s something like being “too nice” that discourages ‘flawed creatures’ to give theirselves a chance with such perfect species.

Jennifer: I’m glad you’ve really sat down and thought about your ideal guy. That’s a step towards finding him, I believe. I think who ever can complement to who you are is the best guy to hope for. There’s nothing wrong with that. And no, if you truly want to be with someone, you won’t remain single. I believe in the power of positive thinking. ;)

Ray: That’s a topic which is highly debatable. I strongly suggest that people should stop stereotyping and generalising ‘nice guys’ because like all men, they can be real jerks, too. And that’s also based on experience and are thoughts of a hopeless romantic. LOL.

Sophie: Sometimes, we need people who can ‘fill in the gaps’ or perhaps someone who can be a positive influence on us. Even scarred creatures are beautiful and are still worthy of being loved. All we have to do is learn how to accept the blessing. :)

There’s maybe a little truth to that. If you’re a teenager. I liked all those “bad” boys but that’s when I was a kid and they weren’t so bad. I agree with Sasha that it’s weird to generalize ‘nice guys’. Most of the ‘nice’ guys I’ve know — you know, the ones people call ‘nice’ all the time tend to be fake or have a holier then you deal going on. BUT that’s just my experience.

Everyone has some faults and if faults are entirely missing I get concerned because if it seems to good to be true it usually is.

  6. ever notice, sasha, that comic-strip gal’s preferences are pretty much what “meantime guys” are?
