What Step Are You Working?

Not so long ago I called my sponsor to, well, frankly, whine. A contract had fallen through and I was full of fear and vitriol.

She listened while I spewed and when she sensed I’d begun to run down, quietly asked me, “What Step are you working?” Sigh.

This is exactly why we have sponsors, and why we sponsor – to bring us back to what’s important.

“Some combination of Step Two and Eleven,” I responded. I can’t think of anything that goes on in my life where surrender and improving my conscious contact isn’t appropriate. It sure worked this time. I calmed down and before long, knew what I had to do next.

Love, blessings and gratitude,

Anne W., 12 Step Blogger

Step Two: Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.
Step Eleven: Sought through prayer and mediation to improve our conscious contact with God, as we understand God, praying only for knowledge of God’s will for us and the power to carry it out. (Yes, I use gender-neutral terms for God.)

    Hi Anne,

A pleasure to “meet” you and congratulations for your new association with b5!

I’d tell you who I am but – (everything after but is BS) I’ll try to keep my anonymity intact for now :-)

I’ll offer you this much – I have a sobriety date, 01/06/90, and a home group and a sponsor and right now I am very grateful that b5 has added this Blog to their mix!

    I’ll keep coming…

    M
