Have you ever had any of these oh-so-mortifying period questions?
- Why are my dreams so vivid during PMS?
- Why is my blood brownish at the start and end of my period?
- What’s up with those gross clots? Should I be worried?
- Why do I tend to bleed on one side of the tampon?
- Are mid-30s too early for perimenopause?
- Why do I have to go (number two!) when I get my period?
- I’ve heard about feeling irritable during PMS, but what about feelings of insecurity or jealousy? Are those PMS too?
It’s okay, you’re not alone. That’s why iVillage’s Alicia Potter penned the fantastic article “7 Embarrassing Period Questions, Answered” — to help you get to the bottom of those menstrual musings. Check it out!
And don’t forget, online resources are a great starting point, but your gynecologist is the best person to help you understand exactly what’s happening with your body.

bummer. According to your article I haven’t hit perimenopause yet.
A friend posted that article on uterus transplants…they can have mine! I’m so done with it.
I like to refer to #6 as the intestinal dump. ;o) Clicking through to the full article, I’m rather the opposite of the norm in that regard: slight D before then sometimes slight C after. Of course, I just think I’ve got a major hormone imbalance all around and that my PMS triggers my IBS. Oh, how I wish I weren’t a walking medical acronym!
I’d like to know when they ‘re going to bother to devise a GYN exam that’s not completing humilitating and dehumanizing. The rest I can deal with.
