What’s in your pantry?
I still remember the time when I was a newly-wed, grocery-shopping and cooking felt like going to school for the first time, without my mom to accompany me. I recall making sure the cupboard had an ample supply of the essentials: fish sauce, soy sauce and vinegar. If you chance upon a Filipino household, you’re sure to find these. Add to that, some shrimp paste too! But after some time, cooking became second nature to me. Moreover, my taste and my husband’s leaned towards Asian cuisine. When we used to have those lazy nights (and we still do!), we order Chinese or Thai takeaways for dinner. It got me thinking. Cooking similar dishes myself would save us money. Hence, I made room for more bottled sauces in our pantry:

What else do you think I need?

Hi, Raquel.
The picture is pretty fuzzy and pixellated. It would help if you could tell us exactly what sauces are in the picture.
I can only tell what two or three of the bottles are… do you have plum sauce?
hello again rocky girl… just dropping by
i don’t know if you have 5 spice powder… it’s really good for chinese dishes
hubby and i like light soy sauce and sesame oil too
take care!
You definitely need fish sauce if you plan on cooking Thai food. I couldn’t live without it!
sesame oil?
hi rocky!
the pic isn’t that clear. but some sauces & spices that i usually use for asian dishes are sweet chili, hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, kecap manis, sesame oil, rice wine, curry, coriander, tumeric… and of course our very own Mama Sita BBQ marinade & banana ketchup!
thank you all for your comments and suggested ingredients!
sorry about the photo. i have reloaded it but it still seems unclear.
