What’s Your Definition of Dating?

Dating is the act of going out on dates whereby one person socializes with a potential lover using a process that involves scheduled, usually exclusive, meetings of two people with mutual interest in one another.

Technical people would call the above definition of dating tautological, but I call it boring.
I’m suddenly curious: how would you define dating? My simplistic definition is that it’s the human mating ritual, complete with sometimes complex situations, actions, and reactions. That’s what we’ve been covering here on this blog.
Honestly, the definition is highly based in context. Dating could mean a girlfriend, or it could be as simple and boring as the definition provided.
Generally, you start in one level and work your way up to others.
