When Does Middle Age Start?

The question of when a person reaches middle age is popular on search engines. I know. I actually did a search myself when I turned 35 recently. I seemed to remember that age having significance.

If you listen to Erik Erikson and his famous stages of psychosocial development, then 35 marks the age that Middle Adulthood officially begins.
Erikson said that the main question asked during Middle Adulthood (35-60) is “Will I produce something of value with my life?”
I find it difficult and silly to try to begin thinking of myself as middle-aged. It’s a pointless label with definite shades of negative meaning. I’m going to continue being me: a young adult in my head.
How do you feel about the term “middle-aged”?
