Engage.com is two-years-old and has released a research study entitled “The State of The Date.” Most singles (68%) are interested in falling in love and getting married in the next five years. Only a few singles (12%) think bad romantic news should first be delivered electronically. Trish McDermott, VP of Love, said that Engage.com is now looking at ways of incorporating more Web 2.0 elements. A Series A funding from The Founders Fund, RevolutionVentures, First Round Capital, and Advanced Technology Ventures is expected to help.

I’m a little surprised that only 12% think bad romantic news should be delivered electronically.  I’d be interested in seeing what percentage rate actually follow their own belief and have never delivered bad news via email?

Have you ever broken up with someone via email or text even if you believed it was the wrong way to go about it?
