When teens have to balance career and kids

Though it’s probably a sign that I read too much celebrity gossip, the whole thing about Jamie Lynn Spears being pregnant started me thinking about what it must be like to be so young and among other things, have to deal with the potential loss of a career due to having a child.

Though she obviously has many more resources that other pregnant teens, and, it can be said that she made some poor choices, she does/did have an acting career that may be gone for good. That must be hard for someone so young.

Teen pregnancy is a reality and I know good young people struggle with supporting their children every day, this was just one perspective I hadn’t thought about before.

I doubt her acting career will be over. In fact, I dare say it won’t even be that hard for her. She’ll hire nannies.

It’s like her life is on fast-forward as she already has a career at 16 instead of a job at the movie theater or Claire’s Boutique in the mall.

I don’t know what to think about this. In the good old days she’d have quietly disappeared and WE wouldn’t have to deal with it.
