Where Was Quilting and Patchwork 4 Years Ago?

At the Lifestyles Channel, we’re celebrating Leap Year with a 4-Year Theme…where were we four years ago….where will we be in four years, etc. I’m looking back over the past four years of Quilting and Patchwork.
Quilting and Patchwork blog began it’s journey in 2004, when Shai Coggins(now VP of Community at b5media) asked me to blog at her newly created Aboutweblogs.com blogging network. I’d taught online writing classes for Shai and wrote articles for her previous web site. She knew of my interest in quilting and the book I’d written, The Magic of Patchwork.
Would I write a quilting blog?
I thought this a great opportunity to become more active in the quilting world again. (I’d once operated a quilting business from my home and wrote columns and articles for several quilting magazines.) But I had very little knowledge about blogging. I think many of us who started with Shai were feeling our way in this new world.
Aboutweblogs became recognized in the blogging world and soon joined with b5media, who started their adventure into blogging about the same time. It was a great decision, to meld our talents. So I began writing for b5media in May, 2005, with Welcome to Quilting and Patchwork. It’s been an enjoyable journey and great learning experience.
I’ve met many wonderful blogging colleagues, enjoyed sharing with my readers (and having them share with me), and continually learn about the emerging blogosphere…the writing world of the future. I appreciate all my readers/viewers who visit Quilting and Patchwork, share their stories with me and give me exciting new directions to explore in the quilting/fabric art world.
I’ve also gone on to write two more blogs at b5media…Alzheimer’s Notes (co-blogging with Liz Lewis) and Home Biz Notes (with Yvonne Russell).
What will the next four years bring? I foresee much growth and many changes in both the blogging and quilting/fabric arts worlds that makes these adventurous times for Quilting and Patchwork.
