The World Health Organisation has released the United Nations official tally of human cases of the H5N1 strain of Avian Flu.  As of Monday, March 13, there have been 177 cases of bird flu with 98 of those cases fatal.  This update comes after official confirmation had been received of two more fatalities in Indonesia.

The WHO, only reports cases that are confirmed by accredited laboratories, is waiting on test results from samples taken from eleven people, three of these people died, in Azerbaijan to determine if they were infected.  Four children died there in January. Azerbaijan is a small country just to the east of Turkey.
