Is this American’s favorite mom? asks the Gainesville Times about Donna Aldridge, who has an autistic son, Ryan, and a speech-delayed daughter, Julie, and whose husband nominated her for NBC’s America’s Favorite Mom, with the winner to be announced on May 11 (which is, surprise surprise, Mother’s Day). I have to say, I know many other candidates (I’ll start by mentioning my own mom, who is traveling here today to spend the week).

Have fun with your mom! We are all the best moms in the world!
I don’t know how NBC can pick one!
In the May 2007 issue of Pediatrics, a study showed that moms of kids with autism were just as likely to report having a close relationship with thier children as moms of typically developing children. They also reported few differences between the groups in frequency of being angry with the kids, and reporting that they were coping well with parenting. I took from this that hey, we’re good moms, and stronger copers than your average bear, too.
Dang! I guess after the day Nik and I had yesterday I won’t qualify after all. And I had such high aspirations… LOL
I’m guessing that the winner will NOT have a child in the two-year old behavior range. I think that’s an automatic disqualification, isn’t it?
It’s the lows with the highs that make for motherly greatness and that winning attitude—-I think! You’re still in the running…….
found a very positive mom,(no doubt mom of the year in in son’s eyes), on youtube talking about her autistic son… she’s glowing with pride… it was nice to see a success story once in a while

Other than my very own Mom, I would be tempted to suggest Mamie Eisenhower, for her million dollar fudge recipe! /grin (Lets you know how well my Mom can cook Mamie’s recipe at least.)
Well now Hawaii is in first place and she is also a very heartwarming person who helps children with autism.
