WHY Alopeica?

Last month, the indie rock band WHY? came out with a new album titled “Alopecia”. Why would this band (WHY?) name their sophomore album a word that causes many many people such frustration. Perhaps a glimpse into Variety’s review might provide some answers.

In his album review, David Lewis states:

On “Alopecia,” Wolf and his crew have stripped away some of the pretensions while simultaneously carving out their own niche in the realm of eclectic, kitchen-sink, post-everything rock.

Keyword there is “stripped”, as in got rid of all of the unnecessary elements. Elements such as hair.

The video for “Song of the Sad Assassin” is a great example, of this simplicity. There is no unnecessary fluff. Just “bare bones”(so to speak).

What do you think of the title of their album? Do you disagree with their choice?
