Why Are Chinese Cats Growing Wings?

These “wings” aren’t angelic, exactly, but they aren’t harming the affected cats either. The wing-like appendages have bones inside them, and scientists believe that they developed due to a genetic defect, grooming habits or hereditary skin condition, reported the UK’s Daily Mail.

The latest case of a winged cat comes from Chongqing, China. It’s a white kitty, and you can see its photo at msnbc: Cat in China grows a pair of wings. Last year, a winged tabby in the Qingyan province in China was also discovered. You can check it out at Winged-Cat Causes Sensation in China on Fox News.

Finally, the winged feline pictured in this post is from the village of Luzhou, in China’s Sichuan Province. The photo was taken in August 2008.

  1. That is amazing! I love cats, so these that have wings just prove how sweet they are.
