Why Children Read

Children Reading

Youngsters read for various reasons.  I was fascinated when I viewed some reasons on a library wall.  These were young readers in grades 1-4.

I read because…

  • I like happy endings.
  • Books take me into a different world.
  • You learn and gain knowledge
  • Reading makes me feel calm…like I have my own space.
  • I feel excited because reading is exciting…books are exciting.
  • Books make me feel happy.
  • It’s peaceful to be in the library.
  • I like to read with my dad.
  • I’m a reader.
  • It makes me feel smart.
  • Reading helps me learn about animals.

Why do the youngsters in your life read?  Why do you read?
