Why Do Certain Alzheimer’s Bloggers Stand Out From The Crowd?

Someone asked the question recently, “Why do certain blogs/bloggers stand out in your mind? Why do you return to their blogs?”
Do you have specific blogs about Alzheimer’s and caregiving that you visit daily, or at least more frequently than others? I started “pondering” and making a list.
- Sometimes it’s the topic, because we relate to it.
- It’s an easy-to-read blog.
- There is helpful information.
- More than that, the bloggers who stand out with me are those who take time to do that “extra something.”
1. They stop by to leave a comment after you’ve made one.
2. They thank you for leaving a comment (often a personal e-mail, as well as a reply on the blog)
3. They seem to care about what you’re experiencing.
4. They link to your blog posts and thank you for linking to theirs.
5. They’re there with an encouraging word if they sense your day isn’t going right.
My “pondering” makes me realize I need to do more of these myself!
Why do you visit specific blogs and keep returning? What can Liz and I do to make our blog appealing to you?

You hit the nail on the head in terms of what makes a blog one you want to return to. To that I’d add, I like the ones that offer fresh views or point me to information I didn’t know. (I guess that’s an expansion of your first point.) Mixing in a friendly tone also helps, which is what’s great about yours. fyi, Caring.com’s blog about caring for aging parents (not just parents with Alzheimer’s) is just launching next week. I invite you to visit!
