Why do paper cuts hurt so much?

It’s a mystery – why does such a tiny cut hurt so much sometimes?

We’ve all had them and most of us have stories of our most painful paper cuts. I had one from a file folder once, right in the fold of the joint. Oh my, that one was painful.

We do know that our fingertips are the most sensitive part of the body, but does that alone explain why paper cuts hurt so much?

ABC News has a piece called The Peculiar Pain of Paper Cuts. I never even knew that doctors were talking about it.

I JUST got a paper cut between my fingers — Ouch! I was going to write a post about it on my other writer-related blog. :)

    Great minds…

  2. Hah! Not 10 minutes after I wrote this post, I had a beauty of a paper cut on my thumb.
What ever happened to the paperless world we were supposed to get???
