Wii Gets More and More Fitness Oriented

According to Wii News Daily, Nintendo is coming out with additional fitness-related products.

Bandai Namco revealed at the Tokyo Games Show that a Wii version of the ‘Power Pad’ and ‘Family Trainer’ series would be coming soon with ‘Active Life: Athletic World’.

Localisation Producers Naotaka Higashiyama and Sayaki Mori are working hard to bring this special brand of footwork and fitness to the new Nintendo console. The game will utilize not only the reworked PowerPad but also the Wiimote, making it the first of its kind so far.

Wii already has the thoroughly mocked Wii Fit and other less overtly exercise-oriented titles like Dance Dance Revolution and Dancing With the Stars. Seems like Nintendo is really working to turn around the image of video games as sedentary, and taking advantage of the phenomenon they’ve created by capitalizing on America’s other obsession: weight loss.

What do you think? Are you on board with Wii fitness yet? Leave a comment!
