I am so excited to bring you this great contest!

Megan Nicolay, author of “Generation T: 108 Ways To Transform A T-Shirt” has offered one of my lucky readers their own copy of her book.

Generation T is all about using your resources creatively.  Why not transform a t-shirt into another piece of clothing, rather than having to buy it new?

As a special treat, here’s a sneak peak with instructions to create your own “Pin Up Girl” halter top – all you need is a pair of scissors.  This project doesn’t even need to be sewn!

If you’d like to enter the contest, there are a few rules I need to go over first:

  • The contest is only open to residents of the continental USA.
  • One entry per person please.
  • To enter, just leave a comment on this post, explaining why you want to win your own copy of Generation T.  Make sure to use a valid email address so I can contact you if you win.
  • The winner will be determined by a random draw.
  • The contest runs from August 18th, until midnight, September 1st.  I will hold the draw on September 2nd, and contact the winner privately by email.

Good luck!

I’ve been following tshirt surgery blogs for a few years on LiveJournal but haven’t taken to the plunge. But I’ve been saving a few concert tshirts and regular T’s in hopes of making something creative and fun. I love to repurpose and refashion old clothes into new duds so this book would be a great resource.

  3. Joyce Pinnix (subscribed) says:

I’d love to receive a copy because I don’t believe in throwing away but, reusing. Who can afford to take things for granted and abuse what our world has given us? Thank for the chance.

  4. Kimberly Sprite says:

I lost 84 lbs last year and I could really some make over ideas to a) use all those huge t-shirts and b) show off my new size.

  5. Tina says:

I have been scrapbooking for years and have just recently decided to expand my crafting. I would love to learn how to transform my t-shirts into something new and fun!

I want to win because I think this is something me & my oldest daughter can do together! I’d love to share my love of crafting with her in a fun way for her.

  7. debe says:

This is great. I often make pillows and re use Ts in different ways, so ways of remaking a T into another piece of clothing is wonderful.

A do over in the best way..

I love this book! I checked out at my library and renewed it 3 times. I would love to own it.
I love that there is a derby girl in the book. I play derby in Texas. As I was reading the book, I kept thinking ‘this is sooo derby’ and then there was a pic of a skater. Awesome!
    You are super creative!

  9. huntress says:

I checked this book out at the library and ended up renewing it 3 time. I love it!
I kept thinking that it was very roller derby like (I skate for Texas Lonestar Rollergirls) and then there was a pic of a skater. How perfect! My skater friends would love this book!

  12. Char Hager (subscribed) says:

I’d love to win a copy of this book. I believe the arts of sewing, needlearts & crafts are in danger of dying out; & as a grandmother I try to pass on these things to my grandchildren & their families. I also applaud the “green”-ness of re-using items that may otherwise be trashed.

  13. Susan C says:

I would like to win because some of my tees have sentimental value, like the ones I received as gifts or bought on vacations. They are wearing out, but I hate to throw them out.If I transformed them, I could still keep my memories.

I first saw this book in a store window on trendy State Street in Madison IL. When I saw it I knew I had to have it. At the time I didn’t have enough cash on me and thought I would go back. I never did. I would love to be able to make something new out of all those old concert tees sitting in my closet!

  15. Mary Castro says:

This looks like such a fun craft to try. I would love to win the guide because it is a craft that my sixteen year old would be interested in and I am always looking for things to try that she would consider hip. She is off to college at the end of this year. I’m sure T-shirts are going to be a major part of her wardrobe.

    Thanks

  16. Katherine Happle (subscribed) says:

I would like to win this book because I just recently created my first very own altered t-shirt for myself. I would love to win this book so that I can get more ideas on how to create dazzling t-shirts from old t-shirts. I love being creative and also have many t-shirts due to being the only female in a house of four males, who tend to live in t-shirts. This book would allow me to recycle many of the t-shirts that are no longer worn by my male family members into works of art for myself and other females in my family. I think this book would really motivate and inspire me to get my creative juices flowing in a positive direction while giving new life to the many t-shirts that seem to multiply within my house. I personally have never liked wearing t-shirts, but really like the one that I created for myself today…so I too may find myself wearing more “altered t-shirts” that I have created, especially if I can win this book that will give me more creative ideas to work with.

  17. Stacey (subscribed) says:

I bought this book for my friend as a birthday gift & liked it so much I almost couldn’t part with it so I’d like to win a copy for myself.

  18. Douglas R. Cobb says:

My daughter (15) just recently iedyed a T-shirt for the first time. The first one didn’t turn out that great, but the second one, which her mom helped with, looked really cool. I think she would love to have an entire book with fantastic ideas on ways to trick out T-shirts, so I hope I win this for her!

  19. Irma Duarte says:

i would love to own a copy of this book. i would love to learn different ways to reuse my old shirts. those ideas are awesome

  20. Claire says:

I have a few t-shirts left over from failed iron-on experiments, this would be a good use for them!

  21. melody_yesterday says:

i would really LOVE to have a copy of this to not only sell in my soon-to-be craft shop but also to share with the teenage ladies who live near me who are interested in small upcycling projects I will show them !

  28. Erma says:

I would like to win because my daughter would love this.

  29. Kimberly says:

I would like to win this to help spice up my wardrobe and give me ideas for different things to do to make things not just basics. Also, I just started a job where they accidently ordered mens size large ts for everyone and we have to alter them to make them look more feminine (but not slutty!). I think this could give me some good ideas other than just cutting the neck off and belting it to make it a boatneck tunic.

  30. dorothy l says:

I would love to try and redo some of the old t shirts I have

  31. Ed Nemmers says:

  33. Benita G. says:

I’m really handy with a scissors and a needle and thread. I have lots of tee shirts. I’d love to follow the instructions in the book to make Christmas and birthday gifts for all my friends. I’m sure they’ll love them.
