You guys have been here with me through lots of stuff in my life. While I know this topic of being in the Sandwich Generation isn’t nearly as exciting as the celebrity blogs following Britney Spears or Lindsay Lohan, I know that you are reading here because you want to be here.
Many of you have aging parents yourselves, and, some of you have lost a parent. My heart goes out to you, and, I hope in some way I can help you by sharing what I’ve learned or read.
So, please accept my Valentine and pretend it’s the good chocolate kind and not the funky tasting (though classic) conversation hearts, and, I wish you peace and joy.

What caregivers need is chocolate and lots of it!
Just kidding. Maybe I was the only caregiver/sandwich generationer who would have held up the Ghirardelli factory most days.
As she developed Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s and moved in with my family and me, we’d sit side-by-side, sharing a bag of Dove chocolates.
When I was a kid, I’d find Hershey bars (the big ones) slid between books in our bookcases. She bought Snickers by the case…
That’s one great thing about old(er) age. Eat what you love.
