Women’s Exercise Habits Change

In the “I can’t believe they did a study on this” category, a new report done by Australian researchers says that the amount of exercise a woman gets throughout her life changes as her life does. For example, if she is married and raising children, she will exercise less because, presumably, she’s busy. If she’s widowed, she will exercise more. (Both because she probably has more time and also to ease the grief of losing her partner.)

I’m all for studies that focus on women’s health, as I think many female issues have been ignored for too long. But I think we already know that when women are busy they probably aren’t going to exercise.
What’s important to note from this study, however, is that despite being busy and having a lot of on our plates, we need to find time to fit in exercise. We need to take care of ourselves, even when we have a lot of irons in the fire. Doing so can keep us healthy a lot longer and also avoid some common health problems.
