Wordy Wednesday – Father’s Day Gift Idea

Sports fans. They’re easy to shop for, but after the tenth jersey, you kind of wish you could come up with something a little more original. Last year, I did just that for a Father’s Day gift for a big Raven’s fan.

I got a shadow box, a piece of matboard that fit it, a photo I took of a raven, a letter “R” stamp I carved, a copy of The Raven poem by Poe and beeswax. I adhered the photo and poem to the matboard. Then, I stamped the “R” onto tissue paper and added it to the matboard. I applied a coat of beeswax, framed the whole thing in the shadowbox and I was done. I know it was a hit because it is still hanging on his wall and most of the gifts he gets never make it out of the car trunk!
