Work and life

This is shaping up to be one of those truly horrific weeks at work.

I don’t even want to speak to anyone after I get home, yet, the kids and the house still beckon.

I’m thinking husbands in the 1950’s had it good when they were greeted at the door after work with a drink and their slippers and were escorted into the study to “unwind”.

I wish I had a study.

  1. I don’t believe that ever really happened, even in the 50s. At least, not in families without a full time nanny. And maybe a maid to mix that drink and clean the study.

There are times when I wonder (fondly) what it would be like to have just that – wife meet me at the door, “How was your day dear?”, collapse into easy chair with drink, watch TV, dinner almost ready….

But then I probably wouldn’t respect her as much as I do now, so maybe I’ll just take a robot to do that.
