Working mother’s dilemma

June 17, 2008 by Elizabeth

My friend, Susan of Friday Playdate is having a bit of a stressful summer with childcare while she works.

Summer camp for her boys isn’t what she expected it to be, yet she needs them to be there in order to get her job done each day. It’s a struggle that we hear about in the media all the time, but it’s different when you or someone you know is experiencing it.

It’s hard to feel like you’re winning, sometimes.

  1. that girl says:

I was late for work every day last week due to Vacations Bible School..summer activities are fun for the kids – but kind of stressful for mommy, who’s desperately clinging to some semblence of a schedule.

  2. I never understood the chasm between the supply and demand of quality childcare until I had my daughter. We’ve been unbelievably lucky; not everyone is. This post reminds me, now that it’s almost voting time, to find out how our politicians are handling this unacceptable trend.
