World Alzheimer’s Day – September 21

Today is the 100th Anniversary of Alzheimer’s disease being recognized by Dr. Alois Alzheimer.  September 21 has been designated as World Alzheimer’s Day.

One hundred years ago, in November, 1906, Dr. Alzheimer presented his findings about a former patient, Auguste D., who had suffered from memory loss and it’s related symptoms…those now associated with this disease.

For many years, there seemed no hope of finding a cause and a cure for Alzheimer’s disease.  So much research is being done in so many areas that researchers seem hopeful of breakthroughs.
