It is just sad that in this day and age we still have people who go hungry.
It’s great that we are bringing awareness to world hunger, but please realize that the U.S. *does indeed* contribute to those countries that need help. In 2007, via the World Food Program alone, the U.S. gave $670 million. I disagree that children in schools should be *told* to bring in food items for charity. Some families can’t afford to do that. All-in-all, a good website. Thanks for the link.
Never heard of World Food Day
I deliver food in our area twice a month with my mom…I hope to become more involved this year. Stores donate the food and its usually really awesome stuff and you can tell the people that receive the food… it just makes their day… its really fun to be involved in this
The greatest gift we could give those who are hungry in other countries is the training to farm food properly. Help them acquire REAL seeds, not hybrids or chemically altered. So that they can harvest seeds for next years crops with this years food supply. Help them with irrigation. Teach them skills that can make them self-sufficient instead of handing them white rice that is totally deficient of any health giving value.
hmm I wasnt aware of World Food Day
I’ve never heard of World Food Day; this is much more meaningful that some other designated days we observe.

I LOVE the Fall and October in particular. Now this Food Day Holiday and blogtoberfest give me even more reason to love it!
In this great nation we need to grasp hands and help each other. Hunger should never exsist.

I helped at a food bank yesterday. Today I helped at a phone bank. I got more out of helping at the food bank. Thanks for the contest.
Thanks for the info. I had not heard about it and I am a news bug.
good contest
Thanks for the contest, it is bringing an awareness to World Food Day.
Maybe one day we won’t have to worry about starving people in the world??
I never heard of World Food Day!
I’d love to win!
I have heard of World Food Day and thank you for directing us to the website. In our community there are many agencies and places where people can go if they are struggling and cannot feed their themselves or their families. Our city is very diligent about making those opportunities public via news, dialing 211, etc. and hopefully those that need the help take advantage of it. I feel though for people who don’t live in cities or communities that offer help when it is desperately needed. I agree with what someone else posted, no one in America (or anywhere in the world for that matter) should go hungry! On another note – did I mention I love surprises! Thank you for participating in Blogtoberfest! It is so much fun to wonder with great anticipation what the prize is!
Thanks for the site link. Had no idea of it.
Thanks for the link and Thanks for hosting the surprise giveaway. Hope to win.
This was my first time every hearing about World Food Day, the article was interesting and interested me enough to also google it to find out more information. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for a very informative interesting blog.
Thanks for the chance to win! We just completed a week of the International World Food Prize in IA. This is a recognition of Dr. Borgland and annual Laurettes that have contributed to the resolution of World Hunger. Their World Headquarters are in Des Moines. My daughter was fourtunante to attend and have a paper reviewed there when she was in high school. This year they acknowledged Mr. McGovern and Senator Dole.
Great post, it is a shame that so many people go hungry in this day & age!
We must get much more involved in protecting our precious food source. We can no longer be oblivious to the damage we are doing.
Havent heard, love food, thanksssssssss
Glad to know about this. Thank you!
Haven’t heard of this say but thanks for the information. Information empowers us !

Thank you for the opportunity to participate in this giveaway!
Thanks for sharing the info.
That’s a great idea to have a “World Food Day”. Perhaps it will make more people aware of the food shortages in the world. We have lots of food shelfs in this area, where people can donate food to families that need it. They have had a huge increase this year of families needing assistance, because of job losses and the increase in gas and oil prices. Thanks for the contest!
Thanks for the info!
I had never heard of world food day before. Thanks for the giveaway!
Not many people are aware of World Food Day!
Count me in please.
Please enter me into the contest. Thanks!
I want to win a prize so this is way cool!
Give of yourself to others is very rewarding.
Just helping to feed the less fortunate in a soup kitchen or making bag lunches for the homeless can nourish the soul.
great site with a good message.
