What Would You Do: Making a Grand Gesture

I was fortunate to be part of a conversation last night that somewhat led to the topic of “making a grand gesture”.

I’ve heard of talks of such a gesture and I’ve witnessed little done. But I’m sure quite curious as to how it can come about and what exactly takes place. I am quite interested on how it feels to be a recipient of such grand gesture.

The conversation started out as people throw ideas on how to make an anniversary date extra special. Conditions were that it should be out of the norm, not the typical, and most esp never come off as a ho-hum experience for the girl. Yea. Twas a guy asking for tips. How utterly sweet!

I started asking questions on what her likes are. Some suggests the usual romantic roomful of flowers or fancy dinner on venues they’ve already been to. Others are making quips on shelling out some dough on a fancy, schmancy hotel room. He simply told us that they’ve done practically a lot of things together, hence, the bind that he finds himself in.

Gah. It proves to be a real dilemma.

Personally, I voted for a romantic surprise picnic at a lovely reserve near the country’s (only?) dam. I reckon, knowing that the guy had put so much effort into that date is heart-stopping. I’d be grinning myself silly. However, that’s just one bit of the grand gesture. It can also be an opportunity for the guy present his plans on taking the relationship to a higher level. I think that’s a big enough gesture.

What about you? What would you suggest that the guy should do in making that grand gesture?
