Yeah, She Is a Real Gem!

I have been reflecting on my last post about spending more time together.

There is a company that can make us an item forever.   The company is called LifeGem.  They could take Marye’s ashes and turn her into a real diamond.  It is her birthstone! (there is a bad joke there I am not publishing)

LifeGem takes the ashes of your favorite loved one, Marye in my case.  They take what is left of her after cremation ( 99.9% carbon at that point)  and press her into a sparkly shiny diamond.

Now, let me say as someone who has been in the jewelry industry for 20 plus years, man-made diamonds are very do-able.  LifeGem’s cost for this process is about $20,000.00  per carat.  By the time I might consider the process, costs will increase.  But so will the cost of a funeral.

This process would certainly add a new meaning to having someone wrapped around your little finger if you had the diamond set into a new pinky ring.  Visualize Joe Peschi’s Saturday Night Live skit about the pinky ring.  LOL!!!

This new jewelry should spark some comments and conversations.  When old friends say they knew old so-and-so always had those character flaws, tell them that now you just need a ten-power loupe to see them!

Sorry, It was the jeweler in me that caused that last one to be typed.

So, what do you think?

Jim’s mother- in- law always said he was like an albatross around Judy’s neck.  Now he can be so much more…and prettier , too!

Ok. I think it’s weird. . . LOL! I somehow can’t imagine having DH made into a diamond. He’s a gem, no doubt, but still! ;D

  2. Ginger says:

what will they think of next?

  3. Marc says:

It would be different wouldn’t it? Definitely would have the potential to be emotionally difficult.

Your loved one definitely would look different, too.

  4. Marye Audet says:

I think it is gross. VERY gross. Can you imagine a guy giving his new wife an engagement ring made out of his old wife?

I dunno..this really creeps me out and not much does..it is almost like making a pair of designer shoes out of your dear departed’s skin.
    eew

  5. David says:

I don’t recall the ‘pinky ring’ skit. Was that the same show where they did the Peschi-Diniero ‘Shampoo’ skit? – that was hilarious

  6. Marc says:

IT WAS THE ONE WITH HIM AS THE MAFIOSO GOING TO THE JEWELER AND HE MODELS RINGS IN FRONT OF A FULL LENGTH MIRROR WHILE GOING THROUGH SEVERAL POSES TALKING WITH HIS HANDS ETC…

MAYBE THE SAME EPISODE. YOU KNOW ALOT OF THAT IS KINDA FUZZY IN THE MEMORY…

  7. David says:

Nahhh…I didn’t see that one. I’ll have to look it up on Utube – its sounds like a real gem ( heh )

No, the one I’m referring to has Dinero and Peschi ( I think one of them is a caricaturisation, can’t recall ) but anyway, the word ‘Shampoo’ is the replsacement word for a certain olde English term for the ole in-out in-out; well, you know.

So you can imagine….Peschi in Brooklyn mode, Deniro doing his best Hell’s Kitchen….” Hey, lemme ask ya somtin’….did you shampoo my wife, huh? huh? ”

See if ya can get that one, alright. Its a great laugh.
