The last 24 hrs. . . .

ZAAAACK! I needed that cocoa!

bad 3.jpg

Mama, my bum hurts.

Yeah, Cinnamon burns.

bad 4.jpg

Zackary! I MADE that bread. Why would you smoosh your favorite bread in the carpet?

bad 5.jpg

Zacky!! You didn’t eat any of those pills did you? Open your mouth!

bad 6.jpg

Is that yours Zack? Daddy isn’t going to like you taking all his stuff off his shelf.

bad 9.jpg

Didn’t I JUST tell you not to get up there and not to play with vitamins? We must be hard of learning today – you and me both!

Bad 8.jpg

A whole bottle of syrup Zack!

The Sharpie on his sister’s furniture was the. last. straw. Zack went to bed without dinner, after daddy got M-A-D!

I think the poor boy is under-stimulated (bored) with me at home. He’s gets in a lot less trouble on the days he goes to school.

Have you considered a part-time preschool for him? I used to teach preschool and some places offer a 3-4 hour program for 1-5 days a week. It’s a great way for them to play and interact with others while learning social skills, colors, songs, etc. I wish I could put my son in a program, but we’re probably going to be moving in a few weeks.

Oops. Sorry. I just read it again and saw that he does go to school.

We’re going through some similar behaviors with our 3-year-old and it is no fun!

He goes to a Mother’s Day Out two days a week.

It’s fantastic. I am sane and can think and work (not housework running around trying to clean up these ridiculous messes) and he is stimulated by other children and teachers and songs and letters and numbers and field trips.

I’m truly starting to dread the days when he is home. He gets into trouble out of boredom and he’s so heavy I’m having shoulder problems chasing him around all day long and picking him up to deposit him in time-out.

Pre-School rocks! Thinking it might be time for fulltime!

  4. Jen says:

Oye! You two need a nanny.

If only we could harness that energy!

  6. Wow! He really has way too much energy! I’m glad he’s going to a preschool for a couple times a week, I’m sure that helps you out a lot! Do you have any family in the area where they could watch Zack for a couple hours a day? When I was in college my sister would always call me over to babysit for her, and wouldn’t pay me anything, I just really enjoyed being with my niece and nephew!

Oh, Trace, I feel for you. This is bringing back memories of when Maddie was that age. She drew on the walls and we would punish her. She drew on the couch and we would punish her. Looking back now I can see that it was just a faze and that their little brains forget about consequences when they are busy making a masterpiece. I would definitely look for another Mothers Day Out (that you could use on the days he doesn’t go to the first one).

I don’t have family and unfortunately the old ladies I know remember how hard it is all to well and aren’t that into watching him. There is only one daycare in town. One. I have to go to the nearest town for the MDO and there was only one spot left when I got him in. Small towns mean small resources.

    But, nanny. There’s a thought. She’d probably want to get paid though . . . nanny . . .

  9. that girl says:

Oh honey! Yes, he is bored..bored and testing the shit out of his boundaries… did the bed w/ no dinner help?

My 2yr old is a mess when his brother’s gone..clingy, bored, dissatisfied with everything.

  10. Tracee Sioux says:

Yes, daddy doesn’t get MAD very often so that scared him a little. Also I abandoned work and took him around town instead yesterday. I just have to re-adjust my work schedule or hire a nanny or something.
