10-year-old autistic boy wanders away from his afterschool program in North Portland, Oregon, climbs over a freight train connector that starts to move, stays on the train, goes over the Columbia River and into the state of Washington?
It happened Wednesday afternoon—-you can read more here via KGW.com.
The 10-year-old, Kyle, had gotten into an argument with another child on the playground and was ignored by the teacher when he tried to talk to him about it; Kyle then decided to leave and walk home. Said Angie Zecha, his mother, in reference to her son’s teacher: “‘My child disappears out of his class, and not at one point does he look for him or call up to the main office to notify anybody?’”

This is really scarry to think about.
This staff not accounting for their students.
I noticed America’s Most Wanted has a missing childrens section. amw.com
Mabey we can start our own website for our guys and gals population.
That would be an interesting project—-
I had the staff searching for a kid at school just yesterday. She turned up just fine, but I’d rather overreact like this any day of the week than let a child really go missing.
Another example of neglecting the very easy to neglect.
This sounds real consistent with my experience. My kid never went missing, but all sorts of things never got reported back to us - in fact, that was the reason we pulled both our kids out of school and began homeschooling: Safety. At a certain point, we realized that we could not trust the school to keep them safe.
