13 Old Wives Tales for Predicting Gender

While each of these may be old wives tales to determine the sex of your baby they are still fun to try and see if they were correct. I do remember holding the ring over my belly to determine the sex and it did end up correct looking at the hair on the back of my son’s neck did not.
1 carrying a baby high is a girl, low is a boy
2 a boy’s heart rate will be under 140, a girl’s is over.
3 take a necklace with a pendant and hold it over your hand, a circle is a girl and back and forth is a boy.
4 craving something sweet is a girl, sour is a boy.
5 early morning sickness means it’ll be a girl
6 you sleep with the pillow to the north it’ll be a boy, to the south will be a girl
7 if your husband/significant other puts on weight it will be a girl.
8 If your feet are colder now you’ll be having a boy.
9 Your urine is bright yellow means you’ll have a boy.
10 If your nose is spreading during the pregnancy it’ll be a boy, stays the same it’s a girl.
11 If you look like a basketball it will be a boy, if you look like a watermellon you are having a girl
12 craving fruit is a girl, craving meat is a good sign to having a boy.
13 If you have scrawny looking hair, it’ll be a girl. Luscious hair is a boy.

On the T13 website, your topic is listed as “13 wives tales to predicting sex”. Just to show you where my mind is, I was thinking it meant predicting when one would have sex the next time. My T13 is up as well.
You have to wonder why they thought these up to begin with – great list.
The funniest thing is I heard some of these from my doctor!
I heard the first two from my doctor. Course with my third child they weren’t sure if I had one baby or two as they heard two heartbeats, it turned out one was mine.
Fun list. A friend of mine has a way to tell by the lines on the mother’s wrist and it was accurate with all 4 of my nieces and nephews. Happy TT!
This is my very first Thursday 13 ever! What a fun list.
1, 2, 3 and 5 – I swear they all work. (But the necklace with a pendant… I’ve always heard it should be your wedding ring. That’s what I used and it worked all three times!)
I had a great midwife with my 9mo old DD. She explained to me about how OWT started with a grain of truth and how “predictors” could work in a static society. I thought it was interesting…but got tired of hearing about how i was definitely having a boy because of how I was carrying or what I craved. gaah. Fun list though! Brings back good memories
