4 Days Until Mothers’ Day

What I really want for mothers’ day is a book titled Someone’s in the Kitchen Instead of Mommy. Yesterday, my three year-old wanted pancakes for breakfast while the baby and I were having out first morning nursing session.
As a dry run in my quest to get breakfast in bed on Sunday, I decided to see how far we could get moving without my actually getting out from under the covers.
“Ok,” I told my son. “Get the blue mixing bowl out of the cupboard.”
“I got it!” he said a moment later and waved it at me from the bedroom doorway.”
“Good,” I said. “Now get the whisk out of the drawer.”
“I found it!” he called happily and ran to the bedside to show me.
“Put it on the table with the bowl,” I told him. “Then you can take two eggs out the fridge and put them on the table.”
A few minutes later he was running around the house singing, “look, it’s an egg! An egg is in my hand. An egg is in my hand.”
I figured it was time to get out of bed. I took the egg from him and went into the kitchen. The other egg had already been broken into the blue mixing bowl in the middle of the table and moved around with the whisk a little. I am pleased to report, he didn’t get one piece of shell in the bowl when he cracked it open.
That’s not bad for a three year-old. And I am four steps closer to breakfast in bed.
