#4. Mothering Blogs I Love

Mothering Blogs I Love, MBIL, is another vacation series to occupy your eyes while I am away.
There are so many truly wonderful blogs written by mothers. I couldn’t just write up my favourites with a review and a screen capture because I would be writing for months on end and still manage to leave out a good friend.
Eventually, I decided to stay in the spirit of traveling for a very good reason. If you have two children, or more, you’ve probably felt your freedom disappear and mourned it. While I travel with my kids, it certainly isn’t easy to just pick up and head off for places unknown. And realising that there are places I have always wanted to see and probably never will, has been tough. Especially when there are so many messages based on world events that are telling us that the only safe place, the only right place, to be is at home. And, you know, I just can’t let myself believe that.
In response, the Mothering Blogs I Love featured in this series were all chosen for one reason: They were written by women with children who live in countries I have never visited. I may have two kids, but my imagination is still free and these women have taken me on their journeys.
Nomadic Writer’s Life in Arabia is the first MBIL. Living in the United Arab Emirates with her husband and son, this writing mother is experiencing first hand a collection of cultures that, due to world events we find ourselves increasingly separated from, frightened of and mystified by.
These recent trends really aren’t part of a world I want my children to experience. Instead, I want them to know, as I have learned, that friendships between people of all backgrounds and beliefs can be forged to become deep, meaningful, character-shaping influences. It is a great comfort to me to read about how this blogger makes friends, creates family, and makes pancakes in the Middle East.
